Adobe Illustrator で作成の pdf ファイル

Adobe Illustrator で作成の pdf ファイルにつきましてなのですが，
（eps や ai ファイルと同様に），BoundingBox(HiResBoundingBox)値の
記述をファイル内に含んでいます（正しい値です）．
これまでの経験では graphicx (includegraphics) がこれを読み取ってくれたのですが（例１），
beamerのタイプセットを行ったところ初めて読み取ってくれない事例を体験しました（例２）．

というわけで，原因も飲み込めておりませんが，どちらの動作が標準的なのでしょうか？

なお，Adobe Illustrator 作成の pdf ファイルを幾つか調べたのですが，以前の記憶とは異なり，
 ArtBox値 ≠ BoundingBox値というものも見つかりました．
（includegraphicsの際にはBoundingBox値に頼らざるを得ないです．）
