》 ＃オリジナルでは\z@となる部分を\@tempboxaとしただけです．
この方法では、今度は \@tempboxa を使用するマクロが誤動作する可能性が
あります。
※  #34170 の対策と両方取込むと、最初と同じ問題が出てきます。

次の再定義（私が書いたものではありません）なら回避できます。

       \begingroup
       \setbox\z@\hbox{%
          \mathchardef\@tempa\mathcode`\(\relax
          \def\@tempb##1"##2##3{\the\textfont"##3\char"}%
