platex installation problem.

Greetings,

I follows the guidance from here[1] to install teTeX/platex. 

Everything went smoothly without any problems until I tested "pTeX，pLaTeX2e のインストール"

test file:
$ cat test2.tex
\documentclass{jarticle}
\begin{document}
Konni
\end{document}

And here is the error message from platex


$platex test2
This is pTeX, Version 3.14159-p3.1.3 (euc) (Web2C 7.4.5)
kpathsea: Running mktexfmt platex.fmt
fmtutil: no info for format `platex'.
I can't find the format file `platex.fmt'!

I don't know the reason why platex.fmt not found because texhash has been run.

Anyone could shed me a light?

Mandrake 9.1, almost default installation,
gcc 3.2.2
kernel 2.4.21
glibc 2.3.1
