pdfscreen の初等的な問題

愛媛大学のほうと申します。
角藤版の pTeX をフルインストールして使っています。
pdfscreen を使ってみたいですが、そこにあるサンプル
slide.tex は pdflatex でうまく変換できません。
エラーは以下のようです：

overlay1.pdf 〜 overlay10.pdf は全部あるが、読み込まれませんでした。
できた slide.pdf に背景がないし、文字のカラーも表示されません。
color package があるが、pdftex はそれにうまく対応できないようです。
pdftex の設定に対して何をどう変更すればよいでしょうか。
